Vintage  Exakta Varex VXIIa camera body, 1950s

Description

For auction is a very cool vintage Exakta Varex VXIIa camera body, which I believe was made in the 1950s, but haven't been able to find details on this particular model to confirm its production date.
Note that this camera is in non-working condition.  The good news is that the body metal is in pretty good shape.  There is plenty of bad news:  The camera exterior is fairly dirty, the shutter seems to work but not sure if the speeds are accurate, the film winder winds but not smoothly, and the leatherette is peeling off.
