Description
Reproduction Edison Automatic Cylinder Phonograph ReproducerHere is an extremely high-quality reproduction Edison Automatic reproducer, utilized on several models of the Edison phonographs, including the Class M, Spring Motor, and some early versions of the Triumph, Concert, Home, Standard, etc. The Automatic reproducer was originally introduced in 1892, employed for over a decade until being superseded by the more common Model B and C reproducers in 1902. Since Edison phonographs owners had the option and were encouraged to upgrade their early phonographs, many Automatics were traded in or simply discarded for later model reproducers, making original Automatics reproducers difficult and expensive to locate today.
These Automatic reproducers are meticulous reproductions, with absolutely no details spared in making them identical to the originals. The reproducer housing assembly and weight are machined in brass and nickel-plated just as they were 110+ years ago, replicating the low-sheen finish that was originally applied. Correct engraving around the perimeter of the body has also been replicated. The serial number is 131269, applied to all of the reproducers in this reproduction series, and the only indication of their recent manufacture (the original Automatic reproducer with serial number 131269 is retained in our possession).
Per the originals, these reproducers are fitted with a genuine sapphire stylus and French glass diaphragm. Please note that although these reproduction Automatic reproducers perform well, they sound just as the originals do, with slightly softer volume and a little less fullness that is experienced with the improved Model C reproducer.
The reproducers are packaged in a cardboard storage box for protection during transit and storage.
A great item for display and use on your early Edison phonograph, to return it to its original configuration and give it that classic look and sound that only an Automatic reproducer can provide.
