early vintage carved elk inset top choice wood document box

Description

This box measures 8 3/4 inches across the top and  2 1/2 inches. from top lid to the base. The elk is hand carved and recessed in the top by a 1/2 inch from the bottom plate to the top of the lid. The inside has a trough of 8 by 6 by 1 1/8 inches. There is a stain on the bottom of the box. You can see through it but we did not try to remove it. it measures 2 1/2 inches at its widest part and graduates from the back of the box to the front. There are some light pin point spots on the top of the box about 15 but they do not distract from the overall fine wood grain that has been applied here. There is a key hole to lock the lid but no key.
