If you have ever tried to remove the large slotted machine screws or the slotted retaining nuts on the ball crank handles on a South Bend Lathe using a regular screwdriver, you've probably said a few choice words about the original designer's heritage. This brand new drag link bit and spanner bit combination kit provides the correct tools for removing nuissance fasteners such as the large slotted OEM fillister head screw or the retaining nuts. The bits are interchangable when used with any standard 5/16" socket or nut driver (not included).  All bits are precision ground and are made specifically for 9", 10k and 10L SouthBend lathe appliactions but will work on any vintage machinery that uses these same size fasteners.
Drag Link Bit
:  The drag link bit is fully hardened slotted driver with a 1/2" tip width and a tip thickness of approximately .055". The shank of the bit is 5/16" hex and can be mounted in any standard 5/16" nut driver, or a 6-12 point 5/16" socket wrench.
Spanner Bit
:  The spanner bit also has a 5/16" hex shank and can be mounted in any standard 5/16" nut driver or 6-12 point 5/16" socket.   The spanner bit is fully hardened with a 1/2" tip width, a .22" slot and a tip thickness of approximately .055".
Both bits are hollow ground so that they will not slip out of the slot and damage the head. These tools are reasonably priced and a must have for any South Bend owner so pick up a set while they last.
